Some starting ideas

Aloha MEEC ohana.

I thought I'd start getting some photos up for the book idea. I will post scenic photos of Royal Roads, Botanical Beach, and Hesquiaht Harbour. What I'd like for you to do is to choose which photo you'd like to make your comment or thought next to. Remember, everyone gets a paragraph of text in the book to share ideas, thoughts, feelings, expressions, suggestions, etc. Once you've chosen a photo, please reply to the post with your name so that everyone knows it has been taken. I will need a month to have the order come through so the last date I can get your written comments by the end of April - you know when we all have loads of time because the thesis will be done....Ha!

I'll also have lots of casual - cameo photos in a contact sheet format for each opposing page. Everyone will have their photo in the book (it may be at eco rowing, in a socratic circle, at Botanical Beach, on campus, preparing for the thesis posters, presenting something, or at Cougar Annie's). There should also be a page for all of our instructors along with Dean, Pat, Steph, Rory, Soon Cherng, Lindsay, and Nina. I'd also like to have a page of spouses, significant others, children and those who helped us along the way. Have I missed anyone?

According to the thesis site there will be a page for the following: Alan, Joy, Julie, Ceren, Pam, Wayne, Sharina, Craig, Kathryn, Becca, Karen Hsu, Dorothy, Mike, Sharman, Emily, Meaghan, Laura, Lisa, Laurie, Alison, Matt, Sharon, Gillian, Matthias, Karen Stevenson, Alicia, Rebecca, and me (28 in total). Have I missed anyone?

I think this will work without too much stress because an iBook is really easy to make. I'll create the book, I just need you to choose a photo and let the 08 cohort in on your secrets.

Mahalo,
A

  2. Hello Mr. Young. You have some incredible images here. Would it be possible to have permission to utilize some of your photo elements for painting courses (watercolours right now) that I am taking? Everything from waves to vegetation to rocks...etc. Obviously these won't be direct representation of the photos, rather getting ideas and transforming them into art.

  3. As artists we all take inspiration from what we see in nature. If there is something you are interested in to use as a basis for your own interpretation then as long as it is not a replica be my guest.
